Biog
Poppy Pitt is a UK based artist working in both Textiles and Sculpture. She graduated from Goldsmiths University of London in 2006 and relocated to Bristol where she is now working from BV studios.
Inspiration
People, bodies, movement, spaces held and then lost, presence, occupation, tension between people and their surroundings,tensions between each other, the energies held between bodies/people, textures, cloth, hidden threads, identity, revealed but simultaneously hidden, woven threads, woven lives, encounters, energy, weight, volume, pregnant space, presence, loss, residue, paths woven, tangled, crossed, encountered, encounter,experience, bodies, presence, interaction, revelation.

Projects as Visiting Artist
Cameley CofE Primary School, Temple Cloud, March 2010
During Arts week at Cameley school I worked with the whole school on differnt textile projects that culminated in a 3d spring scene, made from various types of woven textiles, and felting.
The Cabin, Bristol, April- May 08
Five-week 'Art around the world' project within a pre school setting focusing on a different Artist each session from the country that was the focus that week, and working with the children to create their own responses to the Artists work.
The School House, Bristol, Sept 07-Jan 08, April-May 08
Leading a group of children of ages 4 - 11 one day a week during the after school session at the The School House.
We did various textile and sculpting projects related to the changing seasons
Chewton Mendip C of E VA Primary School, Sep-Nov 08
Working with the whole school to Produce 3 Sea creatures to go on the wall of the outdoor swimming pool.

Working with the second year students on the Textiles and Drawing and Applied Arts BA. Holding a lectures on my own practice with a focus on line, space and sculpture, followed up by workshops exploring the ideas discussed, creating drawings to then translate into sculpture.

The students that attended this centre are young people that have been excluded from or not completed their education for various reasons. I spent a day with the Art students talking to them about my practice, showing them my work and answering questions about doing an art foundation course and on art as an academic subject and career.
